This 2-hour wheel throwing workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel. It is designed for beginners who want to experience the process of shaping clay and creating simple ceramic forms.
During the session, participants will learn the essential steps of wheel throwing, including centering clay on the wheel, opening the form, and pulling the walls to create basic shapes such as small bowls or cups. The instructor will demonstrate proper hand positioning, tool use, and techniques for controlling the clay while it spins.
Students will have hands-on practice throughout the workshop, allowing them to develop a feel for the clay and understand the rhythm of the wheel. By the end of the session, participants will have created one or more pieces on the wheel. Selected pieces can be trimmed, glazed, and fired by the studio after the workshop.
This session is a great introduction to the pottery wheel and provides a fun, creative experience for anyone interested in learning the basics of ceramic making.
